He was predeceased by: his parents, George Becelaere and Betty Van Becelaere (Charlotte Wilcox); his sister JoAnn Schmelzel; his nephew Trevor Tarwater; and his great-niece Bernadette.
He is survived by: his wife Eileen Tipton of Overland Park, KS; his children, Matthew Van Becelaere (Kathleen) of Prairie Village, KS and Monica Spiehs (John) of Overland Park, KS; his grandchildren, Dillon Simmons, James Simmons, Patrick Simmons (Lindsey), Lillian Spiehs, Samuel Spiehs and William Spiehs; his siblings, Teresa Toone, Georgia Ann Tarwater, Jim Van Becelaere (Debra Kramer), John Van Becelaere (Linda) and Paul Van Becelaere (Maureen); and his brother-in-law Paul Schmelzel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Stroke Association.
