He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin H. Schmidt and Clara B. Stevens Schmidt; and his brother Stanley Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Schmidt (Kepner); his daughter Margaret Luther (John); and his grandson John Thomas Luther.
