He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester W. Thompson and Ines Thompson (Standley); his son Kenneth Thompson; and his siblings, Caroldene Lovelady, Harold Thompson, Donald Thompson and John Daris Aubert.

He is survived by: his wife Sherry Elaine Simoncic of Pittsburg, KS; his daughters, Shelli Thompson (Curtis Pasmore) of Olathe, KS and Amy Gray (Ron) of Girard, KS; his grandchildren, Kolter Krumsick (Kaitlin) of Kansas City, MO, Tyler Gray (Shyanne Dunn) of Arma, KS and Megan Gray Paoni (Ted) of McKinney, TX; his great grandchildren, Leo Krumsick, Henry Krumsick, Jovie Gray and Austyn McGuire; and his brothers, Gary Thompson and Roger Thompson.
