He was predeceased by: his parents, William Vanderplas and Fannye Vanderplas (Kats); his sister Twyla McDowell; and his grandparents, Lyriq, Lennix, Taebor, Tyten, Trew, Brees, Maverick, Madysen, Hayes and Hudson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Jeff (Kelly), Stacye (Terry Redinger) of Phillipsburg and Sallye (Sean Lee) of Omaha; his sister Valeri Mork (Ron) of McPherson, Kansas.; and his grandchildren, Kacye, Brooke, Raegan, Taylor, Jordan, Meridyth and Hadyn.
The lying in state was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel (1115 2nd St, Phillipsburg, KS 67661). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Luctor Christian Reformed Church (946 W 1100 Rd, Prairie View, KS 67664).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillipsburg High School Athletic Department or the Luctor Christian Reformed Church.
