With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Ellen Downing in Peabody, Kansas, born in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, who passed away on March 31, 2022 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Howard and Virland Mae Denton Martin; her siblings, Zella Mae White, Fonda Pearl Martin, Loretta Fern Martin, Theida Vondaline Young, Clifford Oscar, Jesse Monroe, Clyde Donald "Donnie" and Tonice Theodore "Teddy" Martin; her husband Paul Downing; her sons, James Scott and Rickie Scott; her granddaughter Denise Smith Bartel; her great grandchild Braxton Bice; and her great great grandchild Scarlett Bauer.
She is survived by: her daughter Virgea (Mike Smith); her daughters-in-law, Judy Scott of Dighton and Carol Scott of Andover; her sisters, Bonnie Ivy of Pocahontas and Beulah Sparks of Jonesboro; her grandchild Twenty; and her great grandchild Thirty. She is also survived by Thirty-four Great Great Grandchildren, and Five Great Great Great Grandchildren.
