He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sanko and Anna Marie Sanko (Desalvo); his son Robert Sanko; and his brothers, Robert and Ronald Sanko.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Sanko; his children, Edward Sanko of San Diego, CA, Michael Sanko of San Diego, CA and Kathleen Schearing (Michael) of San Diego, CA; his granddaughter Arabella Sanko; and his sister Carol Robinson of Lancaster, CA..
