He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred VanDeest and Hazel VanDeest (Wait); and his sister Freda Hibbs. He is survived by: his grandson Declan; his wife Dianna Hemphill; his sons, Dirk VanDeest (Izabela) and Drake VanDeest; his grandson Geordie VanDeest (Rosie); his great grandchildren, Aubree, Bentley Johnson and Declan; and his sister Joyce Kamm.
