He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Ralston and Della Evans Ralston (Chaffee); his wife Rose Marceline "Marty" Barnes; his siblings, William "Bill" Ralston, David Ralston and Sarah "Sally" Brotton; his great grandchild Chet Fredricks; and his sons-in-law, Ray Larrick and Bud Elder.

He is survived by: his children, Kay Wilburn (Bob) of Ottawa, Carolyn Elder of Ottawa and Jim Ralston, Jr. of Shawnee, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Ryan Schnoke (Cristina) of San Antonio, Texas, Brenda Fredricks (Chester) of Williamsburg, Trisha Kaub (Dan) of Ottawa, Traci Martin (Michael) of Lubbock, Tori Wilson (Russ) of Ottawa and Heather Hansen of Utah. He is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
