He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Donald and Eva Josephine Cain (Jackson); his wife Linda Sue Guist; and his brothers, Donald Cain and David Cain.

He is survived by: his children, Cindi Miller (Richard) of Springdale, Joe Cain (Denise) of Greeley, Amy Bulmer (Greg) of Ottawa, Kansas, Sara Caylor (Chad) of Ottawa, Kansas and Jill Ferguson (Mike) of Ottawa, Kansas; his sister Sharon Hiner (Rex) of Greeley, Colorado; and his grandchildren, April, Brett, Clint, Katherine, Sarah, Robi, Kyle, Brock, Payton, Ava, Amelia, Kate and Max. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
