He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Hackerott and Ruth Hackerott (Mason); and his siblings, Raymond Hackerott, Doris Grieg (Hackerott), Rex Hackerott and Keith Hackerott.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Hamel (Hackerott), Robert of Osborne, Brian and Gale Hackerott (Cassaday) of Osborne; his grandchildren, Jerrica Baum (Steve) of Kansas City, Ryan Hamel of Manhattan, Brianna Hamel of Osborne, Amber Walla (Jeremy) of Overland Park, Jennifer Brown (Chris) of Kansas City and Randy Cassaday (Jennifer) of Troy; his great grandchildren, Isaiah Baum, Maguire Baum, Bryce Brown, Cassidy Jandreau (Zack), Corey Brown, Jaden Brown, Janae Walla, Ian Walla, Sophia Walla, Duncan Walla (Ilona) and Brayden Cassaday; his wife Shirley Hackerott (Krug) of Russell; and his siblings, Dave Hackerott and Linda Otte (Hackerott).
Gary's strong spirit, determination, and never give up attitude helped him fight a 12-years long battle with Parkinson's Disease ending 5/23/2023.
