Joe Brickner wrote a sympathy message

“In loving memory of Andrew R. Carrier, I was blessed to meet Andy in Topeka when he was Washburn's assistant basketball coach. He was a sincere and kind person, but our paths didn't cross again until I became Benedictine's head coach. Andy was a class act. He was honest, and exemplified all the traits you would want in a coach if you were a parent of a player. He was competitive, but also gracious. Even though we were rivals, I considered him a good friend. He will be missed dearly by all.”
