He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Wessel and Mary "Mayme" Wessel (Mindrup); his wife Catherine "Kay" Wessel (Glassman); and his siblings, Ambrose, Helen Nuessen, Francis, Bob, Mary Ann Seymore, Leroy, Charles, Tom and Leo Vincent.
He is survived by: his sons, Lance Wessel (Amanda) and Mark Wessel of Oakley, Kansas; his grandson Silas Wessel; and his sisters, Sister Bernadine Wessel and Rita Wessel of Hays. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
