He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank W. Bertels and Theresa W. Bertels (Didde); and his granddaughter Carolyn Anne Rogers. He is survived by: his daughters, Eileen Dray of Lawrence, KS, Darlene Rogers (William) of Lawrence, KS and Sharon McCort (Russell) of Shawnee, KS; his siblings, Eugene Bertels (Jeanne), Richard Bertels (Ann) of Nortonville, KS and Rosemary Bertels of Atchison, KS; his grandchildren, Melissa Dray, Amanda Dray, Suzanne Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Sarah Saxton (Bill), Rachel Draper (John) and Hannah Stolberg (Peter); his great grandchildren, Annelise, Charlotte Grace Stolberg, Will Saxton, Penelope, Daphne and Teddy Draper; his son-in-law James Dray; and his sister Mary Catherine Bertels.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Benedictine Sisters, or St. Joseph's Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton & O'Trimble Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements.
