It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert E. Underwood (Norton, Kansas), who passed away on March 17, 2020, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Robert E. Underwood to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James Loyal and Jacqueline Underwood (Valle); his siblings, Gloria Jones and Pat; his son James; and his grandson Brandon Sumner.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Lee Rice of Norton; his children, Deanna Sumner (Todd) of Norcatur, Denise Roberson of Hoxie and Dan (Russchelle) of Joes, CO; and his brother William of Norton. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Norton American Legion Post No. 63 and sent in care of the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, P. O. Box 563, Phillipsburg, KS 67661.

He was a year ahead of me at Densmore Schools and I found out when I was dating my husband that they were in the same National Guard Unit in Norton. We have wondered where some of his unit has scattered to but am so sorry to find them this way. Please except our thoughts and prayers to you and the family.
