It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Penny Kay Smith of Norton, Kansas, born in Commerce City, Colorado, who passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Helmer Nordberg and Lorena Nordberg (Oulette); her sister Susan Witkowski; her sister-in-law Cathy Nordberg; and her nephew Mark Witkowski.

She is survived by: her children, Kasey May (Chris) of Oberlin, Kelley May (Andy) of Oberlin, Karlie Minnick (Nathan) of Oberlin and Daniel Black (Shannon) of St. Joseph, MO; her grandchildren, Kaylee Shaw (Jeff), Kariah Castle, Kelsey May, Kalen Townsend, Hunter May, Gage VanMeter, Danika Black, Brylee Minnick, Lauren May and Keithley Black; her great grandchildren, Carson Shaw, Camden Shaw, Beckett Shiltz, Cohen Shaw, Blake Brown, Bristyl Brown and Maverick May; her brother Carl Nordberg of Centennial, CO; and her brother-in-law Tom Witkowski of Silverthorne, CO.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gateway Civic Center (1 Morgan Dr, Oberlin, KS 67749).

Memorial contributions may be made out to Decatur Health Systems and the family will be planting trees in her memory.
