He was loved and cherished by many people including: his caregiver Magda Dolotshahi of Great Bend; his parents, Stanley Swan Nelson and Leila Mae Nelson (Scholl); his great-grandparents, Swan and Nellie Nelson; his son Farm; his brother-in-law Jim Vander Lugt; his friends, Floyd Fairleigh, Wayne Schnuerle of Almena, Don Stutterheim, Bob Yeager, Bill Sharp of Norton, Ben Boell of Holdrege, Everett McKenna of Palco and Bernard Griffiths of Long Island; his wife Gloria Ann Van Patten; his sisters, Lolita Jean Coupe (Dick) and Nathalee Rae VanderLugt; his children, Sally Nelson, N. Terry Nelson (Marcia), Troy Nelson (Denise), Lisa Brooksher (Bruce) and Paradise; his grandchild Clarke Nelson (Julia); and his children, Stanton Nelson, Kayla Burr (Dustin), Kamille Whited, James Whited (JT), Bo Nelson (Erica) and Carson Brooksher. He was also cherished by 11 great grandchildren, five nieces, five nephews, and many great friends.
Norman adored playing cards, from his teen years until the day the pandemic closed the doors of the Norton Senior Citizen Center (he played cards on iPad, alone, for a while afterward).
