He is survived by: his wife Gayle Bird; his sons, Richard Bird of Hays, Kansas, James Bird (Teresa) of Leoville, Kansas and Russell Bird (Angie) of Clayton; his stepson Merlin Hinz (Deonne); and his siblings, Charles Bird (Jackie) of Arvada, Colorado, Sharon Wente (Rodney) and Ginger Hazlett (Ron). He is also survived by six grandchildren and six step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
