She was predeceased by: her husband Norman Leroy Nelson; her parents, Loren Van Patten and Mildred Van Patten Baudry; her brother David Van Patten; and her brother-in-law Jim Vanderlugt.

She is survived by: her children, Norman Terry, Troy Dee and Lisa Dawn (Gloria); her son-in-law Bruce; her sister Judith Jocelyn of Osborne, KS; her sisters-in-law, Lolita "Jean" Coupe (Dick) of Dallas, TX and Nathalee Vanderlugt (Jim) of Edgerton, MN; her children, Sally Nelson of Fairway, KS, Marcia Nelson of Almena, KS, Denise Nelson of Lewis, KS and Bruce Brooksher of Paradise, KS.; her grandchildren, Kayla (Nelson), Dustin Burr of Lewis, KS, Kamille (Nelson) and Travis Sutton of Ness City, KS; her great grandchildren, Parker Burr, Charley Burr, Kori Whited, Abigail Nelson, Riley Whited, Ellie Nelson, Max Burr, Katherine Whited, Owen Nelson, Caroline Nelson and Emmy Nelson; and also, JT Whited of Ellis, KS, Clarke, Julia Nelson of Long Island, Kansas, Bo, Erica Nelson of Lewis, KS, Stanton, Heidi Nelson of Grapevine, TX and Carson Nelson Brooksher of Lawrence, KS..

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 3:00 PM at 118 S Kansas Ave, Norton, KS 67654.
