He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Shearer and Rosie Shearer (Taylor); his wife Nellie L. Gill; and his siblings, Dale, Gerald, Arnold, Eldon Shearer, Doris Linden and Dorothy Morford.

He is survived by: his children, Dalene Juenemann (Jerry) of Olathe and Doug Shearer (Monnie) of Hays; his brothers, Lonnie Shearer (Pat) of Almena and Roger Shearer of Logan; and his close friend Iris Smith. He is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Services of Norton County, and sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS 66967.

“To the Dean Shearer Family, My deepest condolences on the loss of our good friend and cousin. Dean was always a special person to me as I was growing up and in the recent years that I was able to see and visit with him. His humor could only be matched by his sister, Dorothy. When we could get them together at the same time it was like a comedy club. I remember when as a child, we had a new colt that was ready to break and Dean was able to do this for us. We rode Silver for many years.”
