He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur H. Schmidt and Edna M. Schmidt (Briggs); and his son Ricky L. Schmidt. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth V. Jones (Betty); his children, Larry T. Schmidt (Diana) of Sedgwick and Jill A. Gonzalez (Tony) of Newton; and his siblings, Virginia R. Payer-Olson of Wichita and Robert M. Schmidt of Newton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
