May Era Gentry Obituary

We are sad to announce that on July 30, 2022, at the age of 93, May Era Gentry of Newton, Kansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvan Eugene and Mildred Lenora Essary (Coles); her husband Robert A Gentry (Bobby); her son Paul William Gentry; and her siblings, Alberta Lee Rider, Esther Essary, Dale Essary and James Donald Essary.

She is survived by: her daughter Marvella; her son-in-law Charlie James, Sr. of Newton; her grandchildren, Charlie Jr. (Becky Lynn James) of Pinckney, Becky (John Liston) of Council Bluffs, Tim James of Olathe and Ron (Aja James) of Humboldt, Kansas; her great grandchildren, Amanda (Joe Clanton) of Council Bluffs, Bridgette (Matt Watson) of Council Bluffs, Tony (Sydney Liston) of Council Bluffs, Logan James of Burlington, Alivia James of Burlington, Taevyn Baylor of Humboldt, Kansas, Brylee Napier of Humboldt, Kansas and Tylan Baylor of Humboldt, Kansas; her great great grandchildren, Audrey Clanton of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Gracelynn Clanton of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ella Watson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Andi Watson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, John Watson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Brooks Liston of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Beckham Liston of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Banks Liston of Council Bluffs, Iowa; her sister Lou Ann Parson of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; and her sister-in-law Beverly Essary of Norman, Oklahoma. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family has designated Tecumseh First Assembly of God Transformation Fund or Newton, Kansas, Meals on Wheels for memorials.
