He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leroy Gerhard and Mary Jane Duerksen (Curry); his wife Kathleen "Kathy" Swoyer of Newton; his children, Tabitha Hughes (Ryan) and Jacob Duerksen (Taylor Randle); his grandchildren, Kassidy and Kinsey Hughes; and his siblings, Jon Duerksen and Laurie Duerksen.
