He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth F. West and Ernestine R. West (Lickey); and his nephew Kenny Cox. He is survived by: his son Aaron West; and his siblings, Bill (Deb West), Steven West and Roseanne (Kent Barnes).

He attended First Church of God in Newton and worked as a donations collector at the Salvation Army.
