Jim Lacoste Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jim Lacoste (Newton, Kansas), who passed away on September 24, 2018, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of Jim Lacoste to show support.

He was predeceased by: his children, Roland and Carrie. He is survived by: his wives, Debra Ann Miller-Dealy (Miller) and Debbie; his daughters, Jacquie, Meredith, Carle, Casey and Courtney; his siblings, Cathy, Tom and Terri; and his granddaughters, Maisy, Annie, Maya and Lucy.

Jim lived by the Third Step - "make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him." When Jim was finally diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's, he later wrote that he "felt lost and alone…relegated to a life of being 'stupid, boring and glum,'" and that he resented "well-meant suggestion[s] to take the Third Step." Life came full circle when Jim found comfort in newcomers who "mirrored back to [him his] own insecure fears." Eventually, Jim found healing in continuing to take the Third Step as others had lovingly advised.
