He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Hawkey and Mary Hawkey (Magnisun); his wife Doris Buller; his brothers, Delbert Hawkey and Dale Hawkey; and his grandson Austin Hawkey.

He is survived by: his children, Shirley Thompson of Riverside, CA and Gary Hawkey of Newton, KS.. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
