He was predeceased by: his parents, Porter J. Burgess and Helen M. Burgess (McInteer); and his sister Gail Smith. He is survived by: his siblings, Debbie Matz (Kirk), Bud Maxfield (Judith) and Scott Burgess (Mel); and his aunt Ruth Burgess Baker. He is also survived by 6 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews.
