He was predeceased by: his parents, Arch Dody and Helen Dody; his siblings, Dorothy Yost of Galva, James Dody of Newton, Robert Dody of Ft. Collins and Rosemary Garrard of Lincolnville; and his great grandchild Lawson Dody.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jeanne Hoffman August; his children, Terry Dody (Debra Scott) of Manhattan, Susan (Mark Hutton) of Wichita and Judy Carnes (Dean Long) of Overland Park; his daughter-in-law Ginger Dody; his siblings, Jean Swanson of Newton, Virginia Bemhardt (Suzie) of McPherson and Keith Dody (Doris) of Newton; and his grandchildren, Jason Dody, Aron Dody, Thomas Hutton, Francesca Hutton, Isabella Hutton, William Hutton, Alexandria Carnes and Madelyn Carnes. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Due to COVID-19 precautions a private family graveside committal service with Navy Honors will be held in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas with The Reverend Jo Mead of University United Methodist Church in Wichita officiating.
Memorials in Don's memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
