He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Rider and Opal Rider (Likes); and his brother Billy Rider. He is survived by: his spouse Jan Schlegel; his sons, Tyler Rider (Becky) and Tanner Rider; his grandchildren, Eve of Ness City, Daphne of Ness City, Asher of Ness City, Titus of Ness City and Jayne Rider of Ness City; and his siblings, Jim Rider (Bessie) and Sue Luetters (John) of Hutchinson.
