He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter "Wayne" Shoop and Ruth May Larcom; his daughter Deborah; and his siblings, Marin, Orvale, Walter and Ruth McWhirt.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Beaty; his children, Linda King, Lisa Ashworth and Bud Shoop; and his sister Ester Martin. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the W.A. Rankin Memorial Library.
