He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent David and Hester Ruth Thomas (Niemeir); his daughter Vicki Reed; and his sisters, Marilyn Love and Anita Bumgarner.

He is survived by: his wife Louise Thomas of Montezuma; his sons, Rick Thomas (Brenda) of Pueblo and Sid Thomas (Diane) of Dodge City; his son-in-law Jeff Reed of Montezuma; and his grandchildren, Ryan Reed (Traci) of Montezuma, Megan Evans (Scott) of Montezuma, Alan Reed (Hannah) of Montezuma, Jeremy Thomas (Kimberly) of Pueblo, Jared Thomas (Terri) of Pueblo West, Jada Gimenez (Luis) of Edinburg, Jireh Nallipogu (Livvy) of Pueblo, Justus Thomas of Pueblo, Luke Thomas of Olathe, Jacob Thomas (Hannah) of Edmond, Amelia Thomas of Dodge City, Josiah Thomas of Dodge City, Seth Thomas of Dodge City and Lizeth Neufeld (Jimmy) of Sidney, Nebraska. He is also survived by 21 great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Morningside Community Church or Montezuma EMS in care of the funeral home.
