He was predeceased by: his parents, David Smith and Myrtle Smith (Giesbrecht); and his siblings, Victor, Jim, Glen and Delores.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie; his children, James (Tamara), Elizabeth (Craig Buller), David (Jana), Cameron (Teresa) and Rosanne; and his siblings, Robert, Don, Janet and Linda. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren.
