He was predeceased by: his mother Laura Powell; and his wife Caprice Blake. He is survived by: his father Bob Powell of Cassville, Missouri; his children, Nicholas Powell of Montezuma, Victoria Powell of Montezuma, Cole Schaffer (Kaylia) of Montezuma and Madilyn Schaffer of Montezuma; his siblings, Bobby Powell (Cheryl) of Exeter, Missouri, Pat Cox (Roger) of Norman and Beverly Deeds (Bob) of Santa Fe; and his grandsons, Wyatt and Eli Schaffer of Montezuma.
