He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hedges and Helen Hedges (Olin); and his wife Janet McMinn of Emporia. He is survived by: his former wife Donna Layson; his daughter Tanya Mathieu (Rick); his grandchildren, Ashton, Aidan and Avery Mathieu of Olathe; his siblings, Mona McKernan (Ed), Roberta Hedges and Jeff Hedges (Lesley) of Emporia; and his nieces, Jamie Pollard, Kelly Roberts and Erin Sirianni.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent in care of Roberts-Blue Barnett Funeral Home.
