He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley Carroll and Wiley; his wife Vickie Lynn McDonald (Long); his stepfather Bill Carroll; his brother Bill McDonald; and his nephew Brad McDonald.

He is survived by: his children, Jon McDonald (Angela) of Medicine Lodge, KS, Luke McDonald of Medicine Lodge, KS and Lynda McDonald (Josh Britton) of Medicine Lodge, KS; his grandchildren, Dylan, Evan, Haedan, Nathan McDonald, Cassidy, Daxton Brown, Sierra Aschenbrenner (Ryan), Adler McDonald and Jasmine Ricke; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Caroline, Charlie, Cayne, Coleman McDonald and Sterling Aschenbrenner; and his brothers, Butch McDonald of Kingman, KS and Pee Wee Carroll (Cary) of Nashville, KS. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 69, in care of the funeral home.
