She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia Balcom (Stevens) and Donald Eugene Balcom. She is survived by: her husband Robert P. Layne of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Lynne Stein of Highland Ranch, Cathy Novak of Highlands Ranch, Elizabeth Sherby of Mendham and Michael Sherby of Lawrence, Kansas; her stepdaughters, Deborah Eickbush of McPherson and Margaret "Peggy" Layne of Wichita, Kansas; and her brother Kent Balcom of Markham, Virginia.
