She was predeceased by: her parents, Miguel Esquivel and Juana Esquivel (Quintana); her children, Valerie Gates and James Gates; and her siblings, Mary Helen and David.
She is survived by: her son Ray; her husband Larry Gates of McPherson, Kansas; and her grandchildren, Deborah Gates, Michael and Matthew Wilson. She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
