She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Beery and Bertha Beery (Cripe); her husband William Giles (Bill); her siblings, Everett, Iva and Leona (Petcher); her son Gary of Elbing, KS; her granddaughter Jessica Stevenson of McPherson; and her former husband Weldon Howell.

She is survived by: her stepchildren, Veneta Ediger (Paul) of McPherson, Nolan Howell (JoAnn Reed) of McPherson, Norman Howell (Mei-Feng) of Fremont, CA and Janice Wokaty (Terry) of Jacksonville, AR. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials in memory of Ruth may be made to McPherson Church of the Brethren where Ruth and Bill were members and where she and Weldon met.
