He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" R. Clifton, Jr. and Betty J. Clifton (Burian); his parents-in-law, Everett and Octavia Jones; his aunts and uncles, Kenneth, Margaret Burian, David, Rita Clifton, Rea Belle and Nolan Spears; and his grandson Joshua Wilkinson.
He is survived by: his wife Cherlyn; his children, Tina Harr (Tim) of Derby, KS and Gary, Jr. Clifton (Bobbie) of Wichita, KS; his siblings, Jacquie Balzer (Fran) of Wichita, KS, Roxanne Riggs (Gary) of Topeka, KS, Mike Clifton (Lucy) of Augusta, KS and Brad Clifton (Pat) of McPherson, KS; his grandchildren, Cameron Hines, Emmi Clifton (Sam Kline-Martin), Liam Clifton (Cam Maglaughlin-Frieman) and Timothy Harr; and his great grandchild Lilly Spunaugle. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
