He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Agnes Alfreda Schafer (Ledell); and his siblings, Frankie Hazelton, Joan Stewart and Wayne Schafer.
He is survived by: his wife Glorice Helen Hanson; his children, Tim Schafer (Kim) of McPherson, KS and Angie Schafer of McPherson, KS; and his grandchildren, George Schafer of McPherson, KS and Jamie Schafer of McPherson, KS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
