He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Short and Maggie Short (Murphy); his sons, Jeff and Steve Short; his grandchildren, Robbie Zick, Luke Short and Amber Heigert; his siblings, Helen Strome, Kenneth, Clayton, Bill and Fred; and his siblings-in-law, Dick Edelblute and Peggy Ables.
He is survived by: his former wife Mary Ann Schultz; his wife Sally Edelblute Vorhies; his children, Kevin Short (Sandra), Lisa Zeller (Dan) and Lori "Guss" Short; his stepchildren, Rick Vorhies (Lori) of Olathe and Angela Nightingale (Jeff) of Olathe; his daughters-in-law, Jacque Henne (Lowell) and Janice Short; his brother Morris "Frosty" Short (Debbie); and his sister-in-law Marjorie Short. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either Trinity Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association, and those may be sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home.
