He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Paul "Frank" and Drewie Elaine McGaughey (Robertson); his cousin Robert Wayne Ramsey; his brother-in-law Johnny Mac Showalter; his close friend Glenn "Smoe" Ryan; and his favorite coon hound Brandy.

He is survived by: his son Ashley McGaughey; his son-in-law Richard Gonzales of McCracken; his sons, Aaron McGaughey (Lesley) of LaCrosse and Austin McGaughey; his pets, Dolly, Arrow and Lokie of McCracken; his grandchildren, Roman, Serenity Gonzales, Jackson and Lillian McGaughey; his brothers-in-law, Richard Showalter and Terry Showalter (Helen); his niece Amanda Showalter; and his nephew Jason Showalter.
