It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxine Elizabeth Begay of Mayetta, Kansas, who passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter Wabnum and Edna Keggmega Wabnum; her spouse Westley Begay; her daughter Michelle Begay; her granddaughter Hvwla-Este Coon; her siblings, Irving Shopteese, Eli Wabnum, Reuben Wabnum, Theresa "Osh" Asselin and Lorene "Snooks" Wahweotten; and her adoptive mother Voncile Mitchell.
She is survived by: her children, Anthony Sandoval (Jamie Sandoval) of San Diego, CA and Carolyn Begay; her grandchildren, Michelle Alcon, Simone Alcon and Maxine Coon; her great grandchildren, Aaliyah Madrid, Selena Swaim, Alexis Madrid and Joseph Wesley Robert Sandoval; and her pet Copper.
