He was predeceased by: his parents, David D. Helmer, Jr. and Eldena Schlotthauer Helmer; his wife Dorothy "Carol" Nice; and his brother Darrel Helmer. He is survived by: his children, Michelle Glahn (Steve) of Marion, Angela Spielman (Michael) of Baldwin City and Dwayne (Scott); his grandchildren, Tim Glahn (Heather) and Janet Klenda (Brian); his great grandchildren, Brenden, Bentley, Isabelle Glahn, Kenzie and Braxton Klenda; and his brother Ladd Helmer (Luci) of Marion.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Marion Christian Church, Good Shepard Hospice or St. Luke's Hospital Foundation.
