He is survived by: his former wife Tillie Esparza; his wife Tillie Schafers of Marion; his sons, Leonard Schafers (Donna) of Newton and Dennis Schafers of Topeka; his grandchildren, Jason Schafers (Rebecca) of Marion, Travis Schafers (Kelley) of Marion, Shawn Schafers (Elizabeth) of Newton, Mary Schafers of Topeka, Joseph Schafers of Topeka, John Schafers of Topeka and Benjamin Schafers of Topeka; his great grandchildren, Jay Schafers, Bridgette Francis, Amanda Schafers, Jerid Schafers, Emily Schafers, David Francis, Stevan Schafers, Sarah Schafers, Santiago Schafers, Trevor Schafers, Haiti Schafers, Saurora Schafers, Damyon Schafers and Dominic Schafers; and his sisters, Hope Ann Owens, Helen Downey, Jeanette Blasi and Frances Klenda (Marty).
