He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis P. Deiter and Verna M. Deiter (Stone); his sons, Steven Patrick and Timothy Michael Deiter; his grandson Dale Kruger; and his siblings, Glen, Robert, Melvin, Harold, William, Dorothy Watt and Shirley Meier.

He is survived by: his wife Grace Louise Cowan; his children, Julie Ross (Chuck) of Silver Lake, Shelley Kruger (Michael) of Silver Lake and Greg Deiter (Rachel); and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Deiter.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church or Maple Hill Senior Center and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
