He was predeceased by: his parents, Loretta M. Wagner (Reinert) and Edward Wagner; and his sister Lucille Kohn. He is survived by: his children, Jason (Chandra Wagner) of Mankato, Joshua (Denise Wagner) of Minneapolis, Luke (Lynn Wagner) of Fredonia, Moriah (Austin Gross) of Onida and Alan (Jazmin Wagner) of Jetmore, Kansas; his siblings, Marvin (Pamela Wagner) of Mankato, Janet (Rex Letterman) of Chanute and Roger (Ali Wagner) of Burlington, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Brayde, Kayle Wagner, Dalton, Mariah Park, Skyler, Jaycee Rietbrock, Ashley Rietbrock, Weston Wagner, Makinley, Carson Wagner, Alanya, Alan, Jr., Benaiah, KayLisa and Zayna Wagner.
