He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert and Helen. He is survived by: his wife Karen of Manhattan; his daughters, Andra Schroeder (Aaron) of Manhattan and LeAnn Brosius of Manhattan; his grandson Ethan Schroeder; and his sister Ann Leach (Doug).

In 2004, Tom's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
