He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene S. Snell and Jennie I. Snell (Ross); and his siblings, Gene Snell, Jr., Irene Snell, Betty Snell, Mary Snell and Marilyn Green.

He is survived by: his wife Lila L. Witt; his children, Vicki Shanks (Dennis) of Liberty, MO and Robert Snell, Jr. (Colleen) of Burwell, NE; his grandchildren, Stacy Shanks, Jody Robeson (Aaron), Denton Shanks (Lisa), Abby Brown (Cody) and Trevor Snell; and his sister Katheryn Snell of Salina, Kansas.. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
