He was predeceased by: his parents, James Johnston and Dorothy Johnston (Lang). He is survived by: his brother Mike Johnston (Jean); his nephew Kenny Johnston (Bridgette); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Abby and Charlie.

Memorial contributions are suggested the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) or the Mosaic Church in Manhattan.
