He was predeceased by: his parents, William T. Fay and Gertrude Fay (Koll); his brother John Fay; and his half-brothers, Bill Fay and Charles McGinnes.

He is survived by: his wife Betty J. Fleming; his children, Michael Fay of Emporia, Patrick Fay of Manhattan, Kevin Fay of Manhattan, Kelly Fay of Manhattan, Carolyn DeWeese (Dennis) of Wamego, Kim McBee (Larry) of Florida and Erin Hunsinger (Frank) of Kansas City; and his brother Patrick Fay of North Carolina. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.
